Mother Orders Him to Cut His Hair

Question:
Asalamo aleikoum. I want my wife to be pleased with my apparence and I love to beautify myslef to my wife. My hair is not long but is not too short, I have a medium hair, perhaps it can reach the ears. I do not want to cut it or shave it as it makes me look fine. My mother has a habit that whenever she sees something she does not like she says do not do this any more, do not do these or that, and this happens a lot. However she is not serious in her commands and she does not pay attention to them if I do not obey her. I am obliged to cut my hair if my mother asks me to do so providing it buders me? Would it be uqoq if I dialogue with her and explain that shaving my hair makes me sad and try to convice her? Also, is the fact that my hair is beautiful a reason for shaving it as Umar ibn al Khatab ordered Nasr bin Hajaj?
Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

It appears to us that your mother has no valid purpose to order you to cut your hair, unless it is not a normal length. Therefore, you are not obliged to obey her in this regard, and you will not be considered as having disobeyed her or being undutiful to her if you do not act according to her command.

Hence, it is with greater reason that you are not considered disobedient and undutiful if you discuss the issue with her and try to convince her not to cut your hair.

Additionally, you don’t have to cut your hair because it is beautiful, but you must fear Allah and avoid temptations.

Allah Knows best.
