If one of you is praising his friend, inevitably; Let him say: So-and-so reckons: and God is his Judge.
What does a Muslim say if he praises another Muslim?
He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “If one of you is praising his friend, inevitably; Let him say: I think so-and-so is his judge, and I do not put anyone above God: I think he is if he knows that – such-and-such.»
My hadith companion is Abu Bakra, may God be pleased with him.
It stated: His saying, may God be pleased with him: A man praised a man in the presence of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he said, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, (Woe to you, you cut the neck of your friend. You cut the neck of your friend – repeatedly – and then he said:…)
His saying: (You cut the neck of your friend) meaning: You destroyed him; This is a metaphor for cutting the neck, which is murder, because they share in destruction. But the demise of this praiseworthy person is due to his religion, and it may be due to the worldly side due to the suspicion of admiration for his condition.
His saying: (And I do not give purity to anyone before God) meaning: I do not give a final word about anyone’s outcome or conscience. Because that is something we do not know, but I think that there is an apparent need for that.
Al-Nawawi said: (Many hadiths in the Two Sahihs mentioned praise in the face. The scholars said: The way to combine them is that the prohibition is applicable to taking risks in praising and increasing descriptions, or to one who fears temptation for him, such as admiration and the like, if he hears praise. As for the one who does not This is feared for him, due to the perfection of his piety and the solidity of his mind and knowledge, so there is no prohibition on praising him to his face if there is no risk involved, but rather if he achieves a benefit by doing so, such as being active in doing good and increasing it. Continuing it, or imitating it, is desirable, and God knows best.)
