Dying and death throes
Praise be to God, who created death and life to test His servants as to which of them is best in deeds, and made death a permanent admonition and a border between this world and the afterlife.I praise Him, Glory be to Him, and I thank Him, and I bear witness that there is no god but God alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. May God bless him and his family and companions.
Death is a right and there is no doubt about itIt is the first stage of the Hereafter. It was also authenticated in the hadith on the authority of Uthman bin Affan, may God be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The grave is the first stage of the Hereafter, so if one is saved from it, then what comes after it is easier than it, and if one does not escape from it, then what comes after it is more difficult than it.»; (Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi).
The Holy Qur’an described the moment of departure from the soul as an intoxication that takes away the strength and torments the soul. Then God Almighty said: And the intoxication of death has come with the truth, that is what you were deviating from. ﴾ [ق: 19]Death is not annihilation, but rather a transition to another abode, and its sufferings are an immutable reality, and no one can ward it off, nor can medicine or strength ward off it. It has been proven in Sahih Al-Bukhari that the master of visions May God bless him and grant him peace He suffered the hardship of death throes, so he used to wipe the sweat from his forehead and say: “There is no god but God, death has its intoxications»; (Narrated by Al-Bukhari).
This is the greatest evidence that intoxication is a reality that all human beings experience, and that God alleviates it for whomever He wishes from among His guardians, and makes it difficult for whomever He wishes. his enemies, It is stated in the Qur’an that the angels give good news to the believers upon their death. Then God Almighty said: Those whom the angels take to their souls in good condition, saying, “Peace be upon you.” Enter Paradise for what you used to do. ﴾ [النحل: 32].
He described the condition of the disbelievers, saying: And if you could see, when those who disbelieve die, the angels strike their faces and their backs, and they taste the torment of burning. ﴾ [الأنفال: 50]The difference between these two scenes is the difference between obedience and disobedience, and between faith and disbelief, and scholars have shown that the severity of death throes is as intense as attachment. The heart is attached to this world and its distance from God. Ibn al-Qayyim said: “The departure of the soul is in proportion to its attachment. If it is attached to sins and pleasures, it is difficult to separate from it, and if it is reassured by the remembrance of God, it will be easy for it.” “Transition.”
O you who aspire to a long life, have you not seen the dying people, their breathing disturbed and their eyes rolling?! So take heed of those who passed away, and do not be deceived by your health, for it is fleeting. The Sheikh of Islam Ibn Taymiyyah stated that the most severe hardship a servant will face is three conditions: At death, at resurrection, and at the time of passing the Sirat, and the first of these is the most difficult.
Whoever meditates on wisdom will find that God has made the throes of death as the decisive separator between the two worlds. And between hope and term; So that the servant, in his last breath, will be between two reasons: a reason for submission and good faith, and a reason for regret for what he has neglected.
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, recommended having good faith in God, saying: “None of you will die unless he has good faith in God.»; (Narrated by Muslim).
The scientific basis for this issue appears in the fact that death is a right established by definitive texts, and that its insecurities are mentioned in the Qur’an and Sunnah, and that Scientists have unanimously agreed that people are different in death. Among the believers are those to whom angels give good news, and among the unbelievers are those who suffer the scene of beatings and torment.
This proves that death is not nothingness, but rather the beginning of true life, which God told us about in His saying: And the home of the Hereafter is the living, if they only knew. ﴾ [العنكبوت: 64].
The true believer prepares for this hour with sincere repentance. And mentioning death frequently, and doing good deeds, and educating himself to have good faith in God, for the servant is resurrected for what he died for, and how many people Death took them suddenly, and they did not give time. How many people’s power, money, and prestige betrayed their possessor upon death, and all that remained was what he had done of work.
Oh God, make the agony of death easy for us, and make the best of our days the day we meet you, and end for us with happiness, and let us die while you are satisfied with us, and make us among those to whom it is said: ﴿ O reassured soul * Return to your Lord, satisfied and satisfactory * So enter among My servants * And enter my Paradise ﴾ [الفجر: 27-30]May God’s blessings, peace, and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all of his companions.
