since About an hour
If you are keen on performing Tarawih and praying the night prayers… be more careful about performing the obligatory prayers.
The Maghrib prayer, during which your steps become heavy… is more beloved to God than Tarawih prayers in which you prolong standing.
And the evening prayer, which you may delay, or expose it to neglect, while you go to an imam far from your home because you like or like his voice… is more beloved to God than every voluntary rak’ah that you perform after that.
The issue is not the beauty of the recitation, nor the number of rak’ahs, nor the length of standing… the issue is the balance of priorities.
The obligation is the basis, it is what God imposed on you from the beginning, and it is the first thing you will be asked about.
As for the voluntary deed – despite its great value – it is an increase in goodness after fulfilling the obligatory right.
If you are keen on Tarawih, double your keenness on Maghrib and Isha.
Go out early to perform the obligatory prayer with reverence and reassurance, neither in a hurry nor at the back of the rows after completing the opening takbeer.
If the distant mosque will lead to delaying the obligatory prayer or wasting a peace of mind, then the nearby mosque is better, as long as it helps you to perform the obligatory prayer properly.
Whoever is sincere in loving the Sunnah, is more sincere in honoring the obligatory prayers.
Whoever honors what God has enjoined on him, God will bless him in his voluntary deeds.
If you are keen on performing Tarawih and praying the night prayers… be more careful about performing the obligatory prayers.
