Humility and lowering one’s wings makes one feel the importance of dialogue, and leads to opening hearts, winning the opponent to your side, and raising your status and value with him. With humility, the opponent is submissive, the dialogue is straightened, and the desired benefit is achieved.
1- God Almighty said – during Joseph’s speech with his father Jacob, peace be upon them both: – {Father, I saw} [يوسف: 4].
Through this dialogue, kindness, gentleness, appealing to the father’s heart, humility, and lowering one’s wings appear when addressing him, or someone in his position.
The one who meditates on this dialogue will see in the word {Father} As a reminder to him of the strong bond that connects them, which is the bond of fatherhood and sonship, and the love that usually exists between a parent and a child for one another.
Al-Shafi’i – may God have mercy on him – said: “Humility is a characteristic of honor, arrogance is a trait of meanness, humility produces love, and contentment produces comfort.” (Al-Dhahabi, Siyar A`lam al-Nubala’ (10/99)).
One of the contradictory images of this literature, which was recorded in the Holy Qur’an, is the departure of Joseph’s brothers from the path in their dialogue with their father, Jacob, peace be upon him. God Almighty said: {And when the caravan was separated, their father said, “Indeed, I smell the scent of Joseph, had you not refuted it.” They said, “By God, you are indeed in your old error.”} [يوسف: 94-95].
And before that, God Almighty said: {They said, “O our father, we went out to get ahead of ourselves and left Joseph with our belongings, and the wolf ate him, and you would not believe us, even if we were truthful.”} [يوسف: 17].
And before him also the Almighty’s saying: {They said, “O our father, what is the matter with you that you do not trust us with Joseph, and to him we are sincere.”} [يوسف: 11].
From the above, it becomes clear to us that humility and lowering one’s wings – especially with adults – makes dialogue feel important, and leads to opening hearts, winning the opponent to your side, and raising your status and value with him. With humility, the opponent submits, the dialogue becomes straight, and the desired benefit is achieved.
2- Joseph – peace be upon him – said to his brothers – in his dialogue with them out of humility:He said, “Do not blame me today. God will forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”} [يوسف: 92].
