Is there a solution to the problem of elf habit, that is, I feel when I recite a certain surah that I am very reverent, and after the successive days this reverence weakens, as if my heart has become accustomed to understanding the meanings and contemplating them, and is satisfied with them, and the same is the case when supplicating some supplications, is there a solution?
Answer
Thank god.
Firstly :
Habit is a neutral concept, so it is good for a person to become accustomed to goodness and to be steadfast, and he does it without cost. It was mentioned in the hadith: Good is habit, and evil is serious . Narrated by Ibn Majah (221) and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih (310).
Aisha, she said: “The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him the mat, and it was Ihjrh night he prayed in it, Making people praying with his prayers, and Absth by day, Vthaboa one night, he said: O people , you work what Tticon, God does not get tired Until they bored, and if he loved deeds (61).
And as Abu Al-Tayyib said: “Every person of his time has what he has become used to.”
It is well known that one of the greatest reasons for a servant’s integrity in his walk towards God is that he have obedience that accompanies them, keeps them, and gets used to them, does not neglect them, does not neglect, and does not be lazy about them, and this is how the work of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was “Dima”. That is, always, constant, continuous. And if his family did a deed, then prove it.
Secondly :
As for “habit”, meaning: that a person does not feel the act of worship, so he does it in an uninspired manner, because it is a danger that a person should pay attention to.
The reward in worship is based on the presence of the heart in it, as the Almighty said: The believers * have succeeded in their prayers who humble the believers 2: 1-2.
It is important that the heart be present in the worship and not distracted from it.
Sheikh Ibn Baz, may God have mercy on him, was asked:
I read in one of the books an advice which is not to make the worship of God a habit, how can a Muslim make the worship of God a worship of God and not a habit of it. May God reward you with good?
He replied:
Meaning: Do not reach it as a habit; pray it as a prayer, to draw close to God with it, what is for the sake of the habit. If you pray the forenoon, pray it for the sake of drawing closer to God, what is it because it is a habit. Thus if you pray tahajjud at night, then you pray it because it is obedience, because it is obedience. What is it just because of a habit, or because your father or mother did it … “.
Third:
Among the things that help the heart to be present in worship:
1- Diversifying them, so that a person diversifies acts of worship, including prayer, reciting the Qur’an, remembrance, charity, righteousness of religion, ties of kindness, visiting sick people, and funeral services .. And from the mercy and bounty of God that worship are many and varied.
2- Patience to bring the intention to work.
Ibn al-Qayyim said in “Uddat as-Sabreen” (65-66):
… patience is the case for action: the servant must be patient about the reasons for his negligence and negligence, and patience is required to accompany the mention of the intention, and for the presence of the heart in the hands of the idol, and for him not to forget him in his matter, so the matter is not in the action of the commanded, but the whole matter is not to forget The commanding person is doing his command, but it is accompanied by mentioning him in his command.
This is the worship of God-devoted slaves, so he needs patience to fulfill the right of worship, by carrying out its performance, pillars, duties, and Sunnahs, and patience to accompany the mention of the idol in it, and not to be distracted by his worship, so his presence with God in his heart does not disrupt him from his servitude by his prey, and the rise of the prey With servitude from the presence of his heart in His hands, Glory be to Him.
3- Diligence in supplication.
It is one of the greatest reasons for invoking God, and helping the servant.
4- Not to leave work.
Because this is one of the means of Satan, to discourage a person from working because of the absence of the heart, so let the believer beware, and let him continue working.
5- Preparing and preparing for worship, and avoiding what may distract the heart.
And on the authority of Aisha that the Messenger of God – may God bless him and grant him peace – said: He does not pray in the presence of food, nor while he defends it foolishly . Narrated by Abu Dawud (89).
And look for benefit
