Rain is a blessing and a curse
First sermon
Praise be to God, the Creator of existence, the Sender of the dead, the Hearer of voices, the Answerer of prayers, the Revealer of distresses, and the Knower of secrets and hidden things. I bear witness that there is no god but God alone, with no partner, to Him belongs dominion, to Him is praise, and He is capable of all things. Our Lord is God and Lord of all beings. I bear witness that our master, beloved, and intercessor, Muhammad, is the servant of God and His Messenger, the purest of His creation and His beloved, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, his family, his companions, and those who He followed his path, adhered to his Sunnah, and followed his guidance until the Day of Judgment, and we are with them, O Most Merciful of the Merciful…) O you who have believed, fear God as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims. ﴾ [آل عمران: 102] ﴿ O people, fear your Lord who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from them many men and women, and fear God who By him you will question the relatives. Indeed, God has been a watcher over you. ﴾ [النساء:1], As for what follows:
Servants of God, In the past few days, our country has witnessed strange rains, strange rains, dense clouds, lightning lightning, stormy winds, and torrential torrential rains, to the point that people in some areas began to put their fingers in their ears from the lightning strikes, and put their hands over their eyes from the lightning strikes, watching from a hidden side. They expect everything to happen clearly, in just a few moments. Dozens lost their lives, hundreds lost their homes and money, dozens lost members of their offspring and children, and the torrent wiped out entire villages, leaving nothing left but houses that can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
How easy it is for God to create people if they disobey His commands and disobey His commands! God Almighty said: Do those who plot evil deeds feel secure that God will cause the earth to swallow them up or that the torment will come to them from where they do not perceive? ﴾ [النحل: 45]And God Almighty said: Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of people have earned, so that they may taste part of what they have done so that they may return. ﴾ [الروم: 41].
Servants of God, One of God’s dazzling signs that indicate His oneness in His lordship, divinity, names, and attributes is that He sends down rain whenever He wants, wherever He wants, in the amount that He wants. As God Almighty said regarding the five things that only He knows: Indeed, God has knowledge of the Hour and He will send down rain. ﴾ [لقمان: 34]And God Almighty said: It is He who sends down rain after they have despaired and spreads His mercy, and He is the Guardian, the Praiseworthy. ﴾ [الشورى: 28]And God Almighty said: And your God is one God, there is no god but He, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful ﴾ [البقرة: 163]Then he mentioned some evidence of his divinity, and God Almighty said: In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, and the ships that sail in the sea for the benefit of people, and in the water that God has sent down from the sky, So He revived the earth with it after it had died, and dispersed in it every living creature, and the passing of the winds, and the clouds subdued between the sky and the earth – these are signs for a people. They understand ﴾ [البقرة: 164]There is no one who drives the winds, creates the clouds, or sends down the rain except Him. He is the One who deserves to be worshiped, and He alone is the One who deserves to be turned to – Glory be to Him – the Most High – in every situation of ease, benefit, and harm.
Servants of God, God – the Almighty – just as He causes the winds to be a blessing, He may also cause them to be a curse, and just as the rain descends as a mercy, He may also send it down a torment and a curse. The winds and waters are soldiers of God – Glory be to Him – God sends them as He wills. He sends them as glad tidings and mercy, so they pollinate the clouds and trees, and from them arises abundant goodness, from the water of Nimir, and other grains and crops, by which the life of people and their animals is sustained.. and He sends them. Discontent and torment, devastating hurricanes, torrential torrents, and torrential rains spread from it. This results in the destruction of homes and farms, and the loss of lives that only He – Glory be to Him – knows. Therefore, the people of faith, those with intellects and understanding, must be at the beginning of these events, to be between fear and hope, asking God – the Almighty – for its good, and seeking refuge in God from its evil. This is the guidance of the Prophet – may God bless him and grant him peace – the most knowledgeable of people about God, the most fearful of God, the most fearful of God, and the most grateful to God – the Almighty – Aisha – may God Almighty be pleased with her – says: “The Prophet – may God bless him and grant him peace – was – If the wind blew, he said: ((O God, I ask You for its good, and the good of what is in it, and the good of what you were sent with, and I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what you were sent with)), she said: And if I imagined the sky – that is, there were clouds, thunder, and lightning in it – its color – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – changed, and he went out and entered, and came and turned, and when it rained, it ran away from him, and I recognized that in his face – upon him. Prayers and peace -, Aisha says: So I asked him, and he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: ((Perhaps, O Aisha, as the people of Aad said:) When they saw it spreading towards their valleys, they said, “This is our rainy season.” Rather, it is what you hastened with, a wind in which is a painful punishment. * It destroys everything by the command of its Lord, so that no one can see except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people. ﴾ [الأحقاف: 24، 25]; agreed.
Servants of God, This is your Prophet – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – when he sees the signs of rain, he fears from his Lord that it might be a consequence that is coming, and he becomes sad and concerned, and his face changes until God – the Almighty, the Most High – removes it from a rain of mercy. He is not safe from God’s deception, nor from God’s wrath, due to his perfect knowledge of his Lord – the Almighty. God Almighty mentions the story of Aad for us to consider.
Jabir bin Abdullah said when this verse was revealed: It is He who is able to send upon you a torment from above you. ﴾ [الأنعام: 65] The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: ((I seek refuge in Your Face)), he said: ﴿ Or from under your feet ﴾ [الأنعام: 65]He said: ((I seek refuge in Your Face)) Or will He divide you into sects and make some of you taste the violence of one another? ﴾ [الأنعام: 65]The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: ((This is easier or this is easier)) Narrated by Al-Bukhari.
Servants of God, Take heed of what God Almighty has mentioned to us regarding these stories that contain a lesson and a sermon. Today, many of us do not see in these verses and events anything but that they are natural events, neither from near nor from afar to link them with the mercy of his Lord, nor with the wrath of his Lord, nor do they look at them as revolving between blessing and curse. Therefore, it does not increase it in gratitude to God if it becomes a blessing, and it does not increase it in fear or piety if any of the effects of God’s wrath and tyranny are evident in it. We ask God – the Almighty – to treat us with His kindness, mercy, and compassion, and to make the rains that have fallen rains of goodness and blessings, and to benefit the country and the people with them. We seek refuge in Him from His wrath, punishment, and vengeance. He is Most Compassionate and Merciful.
I say what you hear, and I ask God Almighty to forgive me and you for every sin, so ask His forgiveness. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
The second sermon
Praise be to God for His benevolence, and thanks to Him for His success and gratitude. I bear witness that there is no god but God alone, with no partner, out of greatness for Him. I bear witness that our Master Muhammad – may God bless him and grant him peace – is the one who calls for His pleasure, and upon his family, companions, and all his brothers. As for what follows:
Servants of God, Not every rain is a mercy. Rather, some rain is a torment and a punishment. God punished the people of Noah, peace be upon him, with water: Then We opened the gates of heaven with pouring water. * And We caused springs to gush forth upon the earth, and the waters met, according to a matter that had been decreed. * And We carried it on boards and platforms. * Flowing before our eyes as a recompense for those who have disbelieved ﴾ [القمر: 11 – 14] And God tortured Pharaoh and his soldiers with water. God Almighty said about Pharaoh: Until, when drowning overtook him, he said, “I believe that there is no god but the One in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am one of the Muslims.” * Now, you disobeyed before and were among the corrupters. ﴾ [يونس: 90، 91]; Indeed, when immorality spread among the people of Lot, peace be upon him, and vice spread among them, God rained on them, not with a rain of water, but with a rain of stones. So We made the high therein the lowest, and rained down upon them stones of shale. ﴾ [الحجر: 74]This is how God tells us their stories to warn the violators, discipline the stubborn, remind the heedless, and advise those who come later about what happened to those who came before.
Servants of God, It is something that melts the heart and wreaks pain in the heart to see some of us seeing these painful events and great signs, but in their heedlessness they turn away, and in their deceit they play. Heedlessness has taken control of their hearts, so God’s word is true upon them, and they deserve God’s description of them when He says: Had He not brought to them Our punishment, they had supplicated, but their hearts were hardened, and Satan made seeming to them what they were doing. ﴾ [الأنعام: 43]And he said: And We certainly seized them with torment, but they did not submit to their Lord, nor did they supplicate. ﴾ [المؤمنون: 76].
Servants of God, If the believer becomes afflicted with evil, or harm befalls him, or danger befalls him, he knows that what has been decreed will happen, and that what God wills will happen. There is no lifter of what He has decreed, no creator of what has been taken up, no giver of what He has prevented, and whatever our Lord wills He has done, so there is no need for panic and no need for alarm.
God’s command can only be met with contentment and patience with what He has decreed, and grave affliction can only be met with faith and submission. God is kind and knowledgeable of His servants, and He, Glory be to Him, is the strongest supporter and most loyal supporter. Every matter is easy for Him, and everything is dependent upon Him. Things happen to Him, and He is the All-Hearing and All-Seeing. It is not hidden from Him what happened to our people because of the heavy rain and the great torrent, and God is able to help them and relieve them.
Servants of God, Let our refuge be in God and our refuge in God when anxiety befalls us, distress prevails, distress intensifies, speeches become great, paths become narrow, and tricks become difficult. Because God is the refuge in times of distress, comfort in times of loneliness, and helper in times of poverty. The Almighty said: Those who, when a calamity befalls them, say, “Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.” ﴾ [البقرة: 156].
This is how the world is, hardship and ease, hardship and prosperity, sweetness and bitterness. But after trouble there is peace, and after rain there is morning peace, and whoever knows God in prosperity, God knows him in adversity, and whoever God knows in adversity, he turns away machinations from him, and protects him while he is standing and lying down.
So, O servants of God, be obedient and adhere to the group. Beware of bickering. Beware of quarreling. Stay away from arguments. You must be diligent and work hard, for whoever does what he wants will encounter what is bad.
By God, what has befallen us is due to our sins, our extravagance in our affairs, and what the foolish among us did. We must show need and compulsion, poverty and poverty, and be sincere in repentance and apology, and frequently supplicate and seek forgiveness, for no affliction befalls except through sin, and no calamity can be lifted except through repentance.
God Almighty said: And whoever fears God, He will make for him a way out. * And He provides for him from where he does not expect, and whoever relies on God, He is sufficient for him. Indeed, God will accomplish His purpose. God has set a destiny for everything. ﴾ [الطلاق: 2، 3].
This, and pray and grant peace. May God have mercy on you for the mercy granted and the blessing bestowed, the Chosen Prophet and the chosen Messenger, our Prophet, our Imam and our role model Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul Muttalib, the owner of the Basin and the intercession. God has commanded you to pray and peace be upon him by saying: Indeed, God and His angels bless the Prophet. O you who have believed, bless him and grant him peace. ﴾ [الأحزاب: 56].
O God, bless and bless our Prophet Muhammad, the owner of the luminous face and the radiant forehead, and may God bless his Rightly Guided Caliphs: Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman and Ali, and on the authority of all the Companions, and on the authority of the followers, and those you follow. with goodness until the Day of Judgment, and help us with them by Your grace and mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
Oh God, honor Islam and Muslims, humiliate polytheism and polytheists, destroy your enemies, enemies of religion, and protect the possession of religion, O Lord of the Worlds.
Oh God, grant victory to our mujahideen brothers in the land of Palestine. Oh God, grant them victory over the aggressing Jews and their allies. Oh God, make their feet firm and direct their attacks. Oh God, be their supporter and helper….
Servants of God, ﴿ Indeed, God commands justice, charity, and giving to relatives, and forbids indecency, abomination, and transgression. He exhorts you, so that you may remember. ﴾ [النحل: 90]So remember God Almighty, and He will remember you, and thank Him for His blessings, and He will increase you. And the remembrance of God is greater, and God knows what you do. ﴾ [العنكبوت: 45]Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds.
