Rulings of Umrah in Ramadan
Praise be to God who honored His Sacred House, and made it the establishment for the interests of people, destroying sins and misdeeds. I bear witness that there is no god but God alone, with no partner with God. To Him belongs the most beautiful names and the greatest status. I bear witness that our Prophet and Master Muhammad is the servant of God and His Messenger, the best of those who prayed, fasted, performed Hajj, and performed Umrah at the Sacred House. May God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his honorable family and companions. As for what follows:
O believers, Fear God in the month of Ramadan, take advantage of the honor of time, and rejoice in the bounty of the Most Merciful, the Most Merciful. And this is My path, straight, so follow it and do not follow other paths, for He has diverted you from His path. This He has enjoined upon you that you may become righteous. ﴾[الأنعام: 153].
Servants of God, Believers turn to their Lord through prayer and fasting, and for good deeds they hope for God’s reward and are exposed to God’s grace. Success is the one whom God has enabled to obey Him and hasten to His forgiveness and Paradise.
Among the righteous, virtuous and spotless deeds in which no two people disagree is performing Umrah in Ramadan, and we have several pauses and warnings regarding this:
First stop: The scholars unanimously agree on the virtue of Umrah at any time of the year, and there are two opinions regarding its basic ruling.
the first: On the desirable, and the second: on the positive, and this is the most likely; According to several evidences, Umrah is obligatory in Umrah once according to its recognized conditions, and anything more is recommended.
Imam Ibn Khuzaymah and Al-Daraqutni narrated with an authentic chain of transmission on the authority of Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, who said: While we were sitting with the Messenger of God among people; When a man who was not a well-traveled man, and who was not from the people of the town, came and went forward until he arrived, then he sat in front of the Messenger of God, and he said: O Muhammad, what Islam? He said: “Islam is that you bear witness that there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, and that you perform prayer, pay zakat, perform Hajj and perform Umrah…“.
Second stop: It is recommended to perform Umrah in Ramadan. According to the hadith of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, he said: When the Prophet returned from his Hajj, he said to Umm Sinan al-Ansariyya: “What prevented you from performing Hajj?” She said: The father of so-and-so, meaning her husband, who had two camels (meaning: two camels), on one of which he performed Hajj, and the other irrigated our land. He said: “Umrah in Ramadan performs a Hajj or a Hajj with me.”; Narrated by Al-Bukhari.
This credit remains, praise be to God, even if it has a specific reason, then what matters is the generality of the word, not the specific reason, and whoever performs Umrah in Ramadan will have the reward of Hajj with the Prophet Al-Adnan, peace and blessings be upon him, but this credit does not replace the proof of Islam; There is a difference between punishment and parts.
Al-Qastalani said in his explanation of the hadith: “It means: in reward, and what is not meant is that Umrah fulfills the obligation of Hajj, even if it appears that it is felt that way; rather, it is a matter of exaggeration, and adding the complete incompleteness to encourage it.”
Third stop: A Muslim should choose the beginning of the month for Umrah, and he should not do it repeatedly so as not to crowd out Muslims. And to devote himself to the last ten days.
On the authority of Omar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, he said: The Messenger of God said: “O Omar, you are a strong man. You do not harm the weak when you want to hold the stone. If it is left for you, then hold it. Otherwise, hold it and say “Allahu Akbar.”“; Narrated by Al-Bayhaqi. Ibn Kathir said: A good chain of transmission.
If this prophetic guidance was given to Omar ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, then it is more appropriate for others among all Muslims.
Imam Ibn Qudamah said: “As for performing Umrah frequently and staying closely between them, it is not desirable, according to the apparent meaning of the saying of the Salaf.. The Prophet performed Umrah four times in four days. trips, not exceeding one Umrah on each trip.”
Fourth stop: Umrah on behalf of the deceased:
The basic principle is that a Muslim performs Umrah on his own behalf first, and it is permissible for him to act on behalf of the dead. This is confirmed in the case of parents who did not perform the obligatory Umrah. It is permissible for him to perform Umrah voluntarily on behalf of the dead person who performed Umrah. However, it is preferable for him to give ongoing charity or knowledge that is beneficial to him, or by praying for them. According to the Prophet: “When a person dies, his work ceases, except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that will benefit him, or a righteous child who will pray for him.“; Narrated by Muslim.
Imam Al-Nawawi said in his explanation of the hadith: “It indicates that the reward for supplication reaches the dead, and so does charity, and they are unanimously agreed upon.”
I say what you hear and ask God for forgiveness…
The second sermon
Praise be to God for His benevolence, but then:
O Muslims, Good deeds have many doors, and abundant good deeds, and the successful one is the one who is most sincere to God, follows the Messenger of God, looks to what goes beyond his benefit, and increases his goodness, so he begins with the closest and then the closest, from a favor to a relative, a neighbor, or an altruistic effort. Scholars throughout the ages continue to issue fatwas regarding the differentiation of deeds and workers according to time, place, and circumstances.
Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: “As for the fact that circumambulating the Kaaba is better than Umrah for the one who was in Mecca, this is something that one who knows the Sunnah will not doubt.” The Messenger of God and the Sunnah of his Caliphs and the traces of the Companions and the nation’s predecessors and imams. This is because circumambulating the Kaaba is one of the best acts of worship. And the offerings… And God Almighty said to His friend, the Hanafi imam, who commanded him to build the House and called the people to his Hajj: Purify my house for those who circumambulate, seclude themselves, and those who kneel and prostrate. ﴾ [البقرة: 125]And in the other verse: And those who are standing ﴾ [الحج: 26]So he mentioned three types: tawaaf, circumambulation, and bowing with prostration, and he presented the most specific and then the most specific… So what is meant here is: He, Glory be to Him And God Almighty presented the most specific of the Bekaa’s and then the most specific, so He preceded the tawaaf; Because it is specific to the Sacred Mosque, then Al-A`kuf, because it occurs in it and in the mosques in which Muslims pray the prescribed prayers.”
I seek refuge in God from Satan, the accursed. And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a Paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the righteous. * Those who spend in good times and in adversity, and who restrain anger and who pardon people, and God loves the doers of good. ﴾ [آل عمران: 133، 134].
They prayed and greeted the Messenger of God, as God said: Indeed, God and His angels bless the Prophet. O you who have believed, bless him and grant him peace. ﴾ [الأحزاب: 56].
