The importance of belief in the Last Day and its impact on the life of a Muslim
Praise be to God, who made belief in the Last Day one of the pillars of the religion, and linked it to belief in Him, Glory be to Him, in many places in His Book, and made its presence an additional matter. For hearts, a guardian of souls, and a controller of deeds.
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, a testimony that will benefit the one who says it on the Day of Judgment, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. And upon all his family and companions.
Belief in the Last Day It is not a theoretical intellectual issue, nor a marginal issue that can be overlooked. Rather, it is a great pillar of faith, through which a person’s life is upright. Through it his path is regulated, and it is he who connects this world with the hereafter, and gives life purpose and meaning, and whoever contemplates the Book of God will find many verses that In it, God linked belief in Him with belief in the Last Day, so that He would be present in the believer’s consciousness, pushing him to good deeds, and preventing him from drowning in desires and sins. As God Almighty said: Indeed, those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Sabians, and the Christians, and the Magians, and those who associate polytheists – God will decide between them on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, God is over all Something martyr ﴾ [الحج: 17].
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, explained the reality of faith when Gabriel asked him about it, and he said: “AYou believe in God, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and you believe in destiny, its good and its evil.»; (agreed).
Belief in the Last Day A servant’s faith is not complete except through Him. Because it places every action in its proper place, gives man a motive to strive diligently in obedience, and deters him from continuing in disobedience. Indeed, he who believes in the resurrection The rewarder cannot live a frivolous life, but rather lives while observing God in secret and in public, and the predecessors understood this truth deeply; Al-Hasan Al-Basri says: O son of Adam, you are only days. Whenever a day passes, part of you goes. When a believer feels the shortness of his life, and is certain that he has Standing before God, abstaining from this world and preparing to meet the Hereafter. Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah states: “Belief in the Last Day includes belief in everything that God and His Messenger have informed about, regarding what will happen after death from the temptation of the grave.” And His torment and His bliss, and the Resurrection, and the Resurrection, and the Reckoning, and the Balance, and the Path, and Paradise and Hell.”
Based on this, whoever does not believe in the Day of Resurrection will not do a good deed, nor will he abandon a disobedience, as there is no motive for it and no deterrent. This is why belief in the Last Day is the secret of integrity and the key. Goodness.
“And it is astonishing to a believer in Paradise how he sleeps on nothing but food, and to a believer in Hell how he laughs while being exposed to torment!” These are words that awaken the heedless, deter the distracted, and breathe new life into the heart. Ibn al-Jawzi.
The commentators have indicated that the meaning of the Almighty’s saying: Owner of the Day of Judgment ﴾ [الفاتحة: 4] – The true kingship will appear on the Day of Resurrection. There is no claim to any king other than Him, and a just and complete reward occurs. They emphasized that remembering the Last Day is the greatest incentive to righteousness and the most severe retaliation for sin. Transgression.
The effect of belief in the Last Day on the soul is clear. It revives the internal monitoring, so the believer remembers that every little and great thing is written; As God Almighty said: Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it. * And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it ﴾ [الزلزلة: 7، 8].
He inherits asceticism in this world, as the servant realizes that it is a passageway, not a destination, and that true survival is in the Hereafter. He makes his companion patient in the face of calamity, seeking reward. For the reward from God, knowing that what is with God is better and more lasting, as it achieves social justice, so one warns against people’s injustice; Because he knows that he will be punished on the Day of Resurrection.
This is not only an individual effect, but rather a comprehensive system of life. If belief in the Last Day is absent from people’s reality, societies live according to the logic of Material interests alone, and morals have descended to where selfishness and chaos prevail, but if belief in the Last Day is present in the hearts, society will arise. On supervision, justice and mercy.
The employee who remembers this will not be unjust even if the supervisor is absent, the merchant will not cheat even if he misses the opportunity, and the ruler will not be tyrannical even if he can. Faith The Last Day is a fence that protects individuals and societies from deviation. Let us ask ourselves honestly: Are we among those who conjure up the Last Day in our actions and words? Are we doing the work of someone who is certain of meeting God? Or do we ignore and live as if we are immortal in this world? Belief in the Last Day is not a fixed mental idea, but rather a spirit that pulsates in the life of the believer, placing him between fear and hope, between action and preparation, as God described His righteous servants by saying: Indeed, they used to hasten to do good deeds and supplicate to Us with hope and fear, and were humble before Us. ﴾ [الأنبياء: 90].
O God, grant us hearts that believe in the Last Day, working for it, longing for meeting you, and grant us success in preparing for it in word and deed, and forgive us and our parents. And to all Muslims, may God’s blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and all his companions.
