Do not despair, O believer, and know that you have a merciful God who hears your pleas and supports your weakness when people surround you.
A group of Quraysh were harming the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and among them were Abu Lahab, Al-Hakam bin Abi Al-Aas bin Umayyah, Uqba bin Abi Muait, Adi bin Hamra Al-Thaqafi, and Ibn Al-Asda’ Al-Hudhali, and they were his neighbors. None of them later converted to Islam except Al-Hakam bin Abi Al-Aas. One of them used to throw a sheep’s womb over him while he was praying, until the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, took a stone; To protect himself from them when he prayed, Uqba bin Abi Muait increased in his misery and malice. Abdullah bin Masoud, may God be pleased with him, narrated:
“The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was praying at home, and Abu Jahl and his companions were sitting with him, when they said to each other: Which of you brings a basket of camels from the tribe of so-and-so and places it on Muhammad’s back when he prostrates?” Then the most wretched of the people, Uqba ibn Abi Mu’it, set off and brought it and waited. When the Prophet prostrated, he placed it on his back between his shoulders. Abdullah ibn Masoud said: “And I look. I would not be able to do anything about it if I had the protection.” So they started laughing, and the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. He prostrated himself, not raising his head, until Fatima, may God be pleased with her, came and threw him off his back, so he raised his head, then said:
““O God, destroy the Quraysh three times, and this was difficult for them when he prayed against them, and they saw that the supplication in that country was answered, then he was called: Oh God, destroy Abu Jahl, and destroy Utbah bin Rabi’ah, Shaybah bin Rabi’ah, Al-Walid bin Utbah, Umayyah bin Khalaf, and Uqba bin Abi Muait.”“.
“By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, I saw those whom the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, counted as being killed in the heart of Badr.”“.
Do not despair, O believer, and know that you have a merciful God who hears your pleas and supports your weakness when people surround you.
Just say, “O Lord,” and raise your head toward the sky when the affliction becomes severe upon you, and seek help from your Lord!
