A prophetic flash for your heart
When silence is salvation
The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: ((You will remain unharmed as long as you remain silent. If you speak, it will be written for you or against you)).
What educational guidance is greater than the prophetic guidance, and the words of our Prophet and role model, Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, the best of people, as with this hadith he educates in us the heart before the tongue, and teaches a person that the word has a lasting effect, so he must be careful of what he says.
Silence often protects the heart from regret. How many relationships have broken down due to a reckless word that led its owner into a quagmire of injustice. When a person gets angry, he is impulsive, and may wound a heart whose wound never heals. Then he wishes silence had been his choice, but what is the benefit of regret after a slip of the tongue and the displeasure of the Lord Almighty?
From the psychological aspect, excessive talk unconsciously makes the soul a prisoner of impulsiveness and emotion, while slowness and conscious silence give the servant the ability to control his feelings and think before responding, and therefore silence is a sign of maturity, not a sign of weakness.
If we contemplate this hadith, we will find that our Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, did not say: “If you speak, you will perish.” Rather, he said: ((It was written for you or against you)), to teach us that a word may be a reason for elevation and reward if it is good, and it may be a reason for heartbreak and sin if it is hurtful or false. How many words have revived a heart after despair, as its owner found kindness and affection in it, and how many words have extinguished the light of reassurance, making hope fade in the human soul!
The believer is clever and tactful.He weighs his words before he speaks:
Does this talk please God?
Does it work?
Does he force his mind or break it?
Does it bring hearts closer or separate them?
The believer does not weigh his words on the scale of his desires, and for this reason the predecessors were the most knowledgeable of people about the status and importance of silence. Because they realized that silence is one of the greatest doors to purification, and they knew that what causes a person to regret most is a word whose impact was not calculated.
A flash for your heart:
Make – O servant – a guard of reason and piety before every word, and remember that silence may protect you from words from which you seek God’s forgiveness forever, because of the unforgettable wound it left behind and an impact that may never be healed.
